Summer Break!?

Summer Break!?

With temperatures still on the rise and summer in full swing it has shaped up to be a busy season for the crew at DCS. Endless days of sunshine and students out of school make it an ideal time for construction to be full steam ahead.

The DCS team has 6 school projects currently under construction (Roots Elementary, Eagle Ridge Academy, Bromley East Charter School, GVVA West, GVAA East, and Loveland Classical) with 6 more scheduled to break ground this fall. (Colorado Early Colleges, Centennial R1, Ft. Collins Montessori, Juniper Ridge Community School, Two Rivers Community School, and Woodrow Wilson Academy). Roots Charter Elementary, located in the Park Hill Neighborhood of Denver, is a brand new 22,000 sq ft facility that will be opening it’s doors to students in just a few short weeks.  This will be the second year that Roots will be in operation and with their amazing, new learning space it is bound to be a great one.

And it’s not just schools being built. DCS started the summer off with a bang, opening the new South Adams County Fire Department Station No. 4. DCS has been assisting the District since 2013 with facilities assessments and upgrades as they shift from a mostly volunteer fire fighter force to a career staff. The completion of the new station plays a vital part in bringing the District’s facilities up to date and in line with their current goals. At the same time Station No. 4 opened, we broke ground on their new Headquarters building located in the Commerce City Civic Campus. This new building will be a hub for the District’s administrative operations and provide a gathering place for the District and surrounding community.

With projects at all levels of design and construction and in all four corners of the state, the term “Summer Break” does not apply to this team. As usual summer will be coming to a close much too soon. The DCS team is already planning for fall and will be taking some time to have a bit of fun as well, with attendance at the Special Districts Association (SDA) Conference and the Fire Leadership Challenge Conference both in beautiful Keystone, Colorado. DCS will also be a presenter at SDA with members of the SACFD. Needless to say, there is never a dull moment for this team!
